We Come From Stardust

A big bang.

A fat hand slams down the snooze button.

5:30AM

The hot water is out again. No use complaining. A cold shower wakes him up.

Deep space, forgotten time. Tiny particles dance with each other. Helium and hydrogen are formed.

Bumper to bumper. He winds down the window to let his gas escape.

Over ten million degrees. Nucleosynthesis.

Sweat runs down his fat face, dripping onto his keyboard. A phone rings, a manager yells, an intern cries.

“Is this all there is?”

No more hydrogen. Helium transforms into beryllium and carbon.

5:00PM.

Bumper to bumper.

The supernova explodes. Carbon based life is created.

At the end of the day, the coat hangs the man.

His legs stop kicking.

The coat hangs all men.

Isn’t it beautiful?

We come from the stars.
